Weight Loss Properties of Oolong Tea


In the vast array of weight loss products the most reliable results have come from Oolong tea. The two most recognized means by which a person loses weight are increased energy usage or decreased carbohydrate and fat absorption. Increased energy usage coupled with a decrease in consumption of products high in fats and carbs will lead to a significant amount of weight loss. Most people would attach increased energy use to exercise or being active when in fact they serve as only one of many ways to increase energy consumption. Energy is used up at higher metabolic rates which tend to be present more often in people who are athletic. This does not, however, preclude everyone else from having higher metabolic rates. Oolong tea weight loss stems from the teas’ effect of increasing the drinker’s metabolic rate. This occurs because of the caffeine present in Oolong tea which stimulates the body over a period of time, encouraging it to increase its metabolic rate. A higher metabolic rate means an increase in the conversion of carbs and fats into energy, leaving little chance of them being converted into permanent fat deposits. Studies have been done in which women were asked to drink Oolong tea for an extended period in order to determine its effects. There was a marked decrease in weight, in the women who drank the Oolong tea for that period. The benefits of drinking Oolong tea for weight loss are magnified when using the tea to replace a sugary drink. By simply cutting down on the intake of sugars in this manner you are doing twice the work for half the effort.

While Oolong tea seems like an all-natural cure, it is by no means an accident. The effects of the tea are a direct result of the way that the tea is processed. This means that for the tea to do what it does there are many careful considerations being made about how the tea becomes what it is. Essentially all teas are made from the same types of leaves and only the process separates them into their various taste and benefits categories. The key ingredients in most teas are the anti-oxidants present in them. Anti-oxidants are what cleanses the body in the same way a detox would, only that this is a natural and healthy way that does not shock the body. The processing of Oolong tea is done in such a way that the maximum level of oxidation is allowed to take place not only in the plant but also in your body.

If an increased metabolism was the only effect of Oolong tea then there wouldn’t be anything special about it. Oolong tea, however, does have another unique feature stemming from special chemicals known as polyphenols. Polyphenols are able to activate enzymes that are used in the breaking down of fats and carbs which enter our bodies. Unlike the caffeine’s which increase our overall metabolic rates these enzymes specifically target fats and carbs. This means that before our bodies even have a chance of converting and absorbing these fats, they are broken down and used up even faster. Of course with a product this effective people would suspect that there is something wrong with it that will offset the benefits, perhaps the cost or even the taste. Oolong tea bags can be reused up to six times before losing flavour that is after letting it steep for four minutes with each use of the tea bag. The tea allows itself for various means of preparation and can be served either hot or cold. Unlike other health drinks, Oolong tea does not leave an aftertaste, meaning that the drinking of the tea itself is part of the experience.
