Exercise is one of the components of the so-called trinity of healthy weight loss with the other two being a proper diet and sufficient sleep. Just like adopting a healthy diet, however, most people will find it difficult to follow a proper exercise plan for a sustained period of time. The most common reasons include a busy schedule, a tired body and a discouraged mind – so many reasons and yet so little of these reasons are valid.
Fortunately, many things can be done to ensure that whatever your exercise plan may be can be followed in a sustained manner. You will then be able to enjoy the benefits of weight loss particularly a healthier, leaner and sexier body.
Plan According to Your Individuality
The main problem with exercise plans that cannot be adopted by the individual lies in the fact that said plan was not suited for the individual in the first place. It may have been lifted out of a magazine, a website or other sources in its entirety. It may have been recommended by someone who lost considerable weight using the exercise plan. It may have been designed in a haphazard manner sans the expert advice.
This should not be so. When you are designing your exercise plan, your best guidepost is your own individual needs, wants and preferences. You are more likely to follow an exercise plan that speaks of your individuality, addresses your individual likes and dislikes, and achieves your own goals.
On one hand, you should look at your own age, physical condition and exercise goals. On the other hand, you must also look at your own likes and dislikes when it comes to physical movement.
For example, if you love being outdoors while walking, then your cardio exercises will involve brisk walking and running. Or if your knees do not allow for high-impact exercises, then swimming is your best bet. Ask your doctor about the best possible type of exercise, if possible.
Ask for Moral Support
Often, it is not so much our bodies that scream against exercise and all that it entails including muscle soreness. You want to skip on exercise because it does not seem to be doing you any good in the weight loss aspect. You want to just lie around after a stressful day at the office. You need to sleep because your brain has been wracked to pieces by emotional issues.
It’s often in the mind, indeed. Well, in this case, you need to ask for moral support from your family and friends. You need to hear encouraging words from them on how well you are doing with your weight loss plan. You need to have your ass kicked into exercising, too, if it comes to this point. You may even need one of your friends as an exercise buddy.
In the end, sticking to your exercise plan means looking into your inner self and determining your needs, wants and preferences. Keep in mind that you will be doing the physical movements so it makes sense that what your body wants, then it shall get.
