How to lose 10 pounds in a month – text book approach


In this article, I will be discussing how to lose 10 pounds. Losing weight can be extremely difficult, the good news for somebody that wants to lose 10 pounds, is that 10 pounds is not a lot. There are two methods that I will be covering in this article, the first is regular diet and exercise – this is for people that have some body fat, but only want to lose around 10 pounds.

The second method is known as carb-cycling and is for people that are already ‘skinny’ but just cannot seem to get rid of that last 10 pounds that is on their belly.

Regular diet and Exercise

It should be no surprise that if you want to lose weight, then you need regular diet and exercise. I would suggest that you start making smart food choices, rather than starting a full-on diet. This is because 10 pounds is not a lot to lose, leading on from this, if you make the right food choices, you might not even need to exercise.

So what are the right food choices? That is simple, just avoid foods that are high in sugar, such as processed foods, soda, fruit juice, sugar added to coffee etc.. If you think something has sugar in it – do not eat it. Obviously, you should also avoid foods that are high in fat. You should also eat breakfast as this will reduce your desire to snack during the day.

If you would like to exercise, then any form of exercise is appropriate – it is really up to you. Heck, if you make the right food choices, then you might not even need to lift a finger. Just remember, losing 10 pounds is not a lot, so it should not be too hard for you.


This is a method for people that only want to lose a slight amount of weight, usually around their mid-section. It is really for people that are having difficulty losing that last 10 pounds. In short, carb-cycling involves carb-loading followed by no-carbs, then carb-loading again. I think the best way to explain it is as follows:

Let’s pretend that you carb-cycle on this schedule:

  1. Monday: Carb-Load
  2. Tuesday: No-Carbs
  3. Wednesday: No-carbs
  4. Thursday: Carb-load
  5. Friday: No- Carbs
  6. Saturday: No-Carbs
  7. Sunday: No-Carbs

The basic idea is that you carb-load to stop your body from going in to stavation mode when you are not eating carbs. This is something that is used by a lot of bodybuilders to help them get defined muscles leading up to a competition, but there is no reason why it cannot be used by the average person.

Just remember, do not over do on the carb-loading days. There are many calculators out there on the internet that allow you to search for the correct amount for your body. I would suggest that you use one.
